Don't auto start tasks#846

?

I hate that the tasks automatically start counting down once the time comes. I wish I could turn that feature off for many of the things. Also would be nice to add times to the checklist items in a task.

It’s easy too easy to let the task run its course and then it says “activity completed, well done” but I haven’t done the task!

Definitely need to have an option to either autostart tasks or have a “start” button which means the task doesn’t start until you press it.

I searched and found a bunch of similar comments/requests and want to add mine because this one is a big downside for me so far, especially combined with the autocompletion of tasks and the strong possibility that I’ll miss the first couple of notifications when I’m hyperfocused on something else. This means I’m frequently having tasks autostart, autocomplete, and move off of my active planned tasks without me ever noticing they’ve gone.

I like the idea of the autostart from the perspective of streamlining schedules and placing barriers to skipping tasks (e.g. undesirable but necessary ones), but the option to select whether this happens or not is kind of a big deal.

Yes! Agreed! This is actually one of the most annoying things for me!

This is a barrier to me using Tiimo, 100%. (I stopped using it for a year and forgot why I left, and now I’m remembering this is one of the main reasons.) Maybe a type of routine could be made in Tiimo - a new kind, that is more a list of consecutive tasks that don’t have specific time frames assigned to them. Tiimo could track which activity I am currently working on in “Right now” (and on Apple Watch). Then, when I manually complete the activity, it moves me to the next one.

Ok day 2 using Tiimo and yes, this is kind of stupid. My Tasks dont start while i am sleeping.
This are my Tasks and I decide when to start them, whatever I planned them yesterday.
And no option to manually restart them? Strange.
So unless this is fixed, Tiimo stays useless for me.

Agree, another dealbreaker for me. If ADHDers struggle with time management, it seems super optimistic that the users of this app are punctually starting their task at the scheduled time! I could probably live with the fact that it autostarts (if i get a notification) but i at least want to be able to reset the start time for when i actually start something

+1 for this, I came here to add this point. Please add the option to toggle auto-start!!

My life usually doesn’t fit neatly into a time block. I often want to keep the flow of activities as planned, but I am often late or early to starting a task. Having everything auto start drives me crazy and means I spend too much time ‘managing the app’ rather than completing my task.

make it an option but please don’t remove auto-start.

I’ve been adding most tasks as “all day” to get around the auto start issue. And yes as ADHDer my planning can be so much more organized than what actually happens so I don’t always get to what I intended to. I do
Like to put in times and durations sometimes especially to review in chronological order
but don’t want to have to commit to a time if it is going to auto start. Some days things arise I have no control Over (ie a flood, or a sick cat), and plans must be aborted.

Yes please.. I don’t like this feature either. I like having a rough idea of how my day might work, but if it’s not actually rigid things can slip a little. However, I dont want to always put in ‘anytime’ category as the timing might indicate priority and I do like the reminders at certain times, just don’t actually want to task to start ticking down unless I start it.

I want to be able to have some items with times that aren’t flexible like a class at 2pm that WILL auto start but a morning routine that pushes itself and other things that arent concrete back if i sleep in so i can see how much wiggle room i have left if i sleep in late that day. Like an 8am morning routine but when tiimo sees i havent started it yet, It will automatically carry it as the day passes until i hit start. It seems like maybe adding a “start my day” button would be helpful? but still needs the “not enough time!” alert so i can prioritize. Honeslty would love to even priotitize tasks so if there isnt enough time, it will automatically ask me which of my low priority tasks i want to remove so i can just hit “start my day”, remove any tasks that will make me late from the pop up alert and then know ill still be on time by following its prompts.

I understand that some users may prefer it this way, but please don’t remove the auto-start feature. make it an option
If I have to manually tap the start button, my time blindness makes it hard for me to keep track of time.
I don’t use this app to complete tasks perfectly — I use it to avoid getting confused about time.
It really helps that the focus timer starts automatically and I can just look at it to know what I’m supposed to be doing.

It would be great if there was an option : auto-start or manual start. According to the days, we could choose what’s best for us. I’m so disappointed and frustrated when I can wake up later one day and just can see that the routines have gone by without me…I feel like I’m already overwhelmed and I loose the pleasure of the “sparkling timer” when a routine is completed.
And I’d add that it’s difficult to have to reset all the routines when adding a new one within.
I should skip to Routinery maybe… But it’s a pity because I think that Tiimo could be such a much wonderful app for Adhders… 🤞🤞🤞you’ll find a way to manage this

In the main seems to be solved with the morning/afternoon/evening time blocks - manual start is a lot easier now.

I don’t agree. If a task shouldn’t start at a given time then it shouldn’t be planned for one, right?

I plan by morning, afternoon and evening and it works great. As a person with ADHD having the day planned with fixed starting times is far more stressful than the system Tiimo provides right now.

But that might be just me?
