🤖 Android UI#380

J

This is a small collection of stuff I noticed in my time using Tiimo so far.

  • The multi-day view of the web UI is great. I’d love to see that and more in the Android UI. (But the web UI also needs to either more frequently DEselect activities or have a button to quickly deselect all without reloading the page because if I’m going through editing multiple activities there, some inevitably get selected, and then 20 minutes later, when I’m selecting a bunch of things to delete, I also end up deleting a dozen things that were already selected when I didn’t intend to.)

  • Relating to the above, It’d be great to see some love for Android tablet devices (which are slowly starting to make a comeback). I personally use 3 of them ranging in size from 11” to 14.6” and a more spaced out phone UI just isn’t doing it. You could see so much more information on-screen and edit things so much quicker and more easily on a tablet if the UI was optimized for the larger screen.

  • Having to go into every activity to manually adjust the start/end values is a pain, especially if you have activities back to back and you have to manually match the start times of every activity to the end time of the prior one. Google Calendar’s UI has always handled this excellently. Being able to drag and drop events and change their start and end times by simly dragging on the beginning or end of their bounds is extremely quick and intuitive and I’d love to see something similar to that here.

Thanks for all these comments. In regards to your first (& second) we will be developing a web app in the future which should make these things possible. And I know drag and drop is something that a lot of users are requesting. I will add your comment on that in that suggestion so it isn’t lost.

All of these points are things that I’ve also been recognising and thinking about. Thanks for noting them out! And I’m wanting a good way to use Tiimo on Android tablets as well, so I hope the web app will be developed to function well on tablets as well as PC

I really hope that the work that goes into building a better UI for the web app eventually goes towards a proper tablet UI for the Android app as well. A web app is a good stepping stone, but not a proper replacement for a well-built native app.
